Examinations

Examination is an important activity in the academics to evaluate students. Examinations not only ensures the academic progress of the students but also make them confident to pave the path in their professional carrier.

In this view, examination cell plays an important role in conduction of examinations, assessment of answer books, result preparation and declaration etc. All these processes are performed under the directions of Principal as per the University guidelines.

SJCEM is affiliated to Mumbai University and hence First Year and Final Year examinations are conducted by college on behalf of University but assessment and result declaration is done by University. Second Year and Third Year examination process is governed by college and results are declared after the approval from University.

Theory Examination:

Internal Assessment 20/15 marks
University Paper 80/60 marks

Orals/ Practical Examination:

Orals/ Practical examination 25/50marks
Term work 25/50 marks

Eligibility for appearing in University Examination:
At least 75 % attendance in every theory and practical subject.
Submission of entire term work of every subject.

University Examinations:
End Semester examinations – conducted by the University.
Question papers – set by University and same for all colleges.
The Practical/Oral examinations are conducted by the institute in presence of an external examiner appointed by the University.

Results:
Results of the examination – declared within a period of 45 days.
Result shall given in terms of
SGPI: Semester Grade Performance Index
CGPI: Cumulative Grade Performance Index

ATKT means Allowed To Keep Term.
Student failing in any number of heads of passing of odd semester is eligible for attending college and appearing for university examination of next even semester. Such student can appear for examination of only those heads of passing in which he/she is failing.

Eligibility for Admission to Second Year:
A student passing semester I and II examinations.
OR
A student failing in not more than five subjects in end semester examination and not more than eight heads of passing taking college assessment, oral/practical and end semester examinations of semester I and II together.

Eligibility for Admission to Third Year:
A student passing semester I and II
AND
A student passing Semester III and IV examinations.
OR
A student failing in not more than five subjects in end semester examination and not more than
eight heads of passing taking college assessment, oral/practical and end semester examinations of semester III and IV together.

Eligibility for Admission to Final Year:
A student passing semester III and IV examinations.
AND
A student passing semester V and VI examinations.
OR
A student failing in not more than five subjects in end semester examination and not more than
eight heads of passing taking college assessment, oral/practical and end semester examinations of semester V and VI together.

Year Drop:
In a case a student is not eligible for admission to next higher semester, he/she loses at least one year – year drop.

Provisional Admission:
Student not eligible for regular admission can take provisional admission if he/she applies for revaluation in those many papers which if he/she passes may make him/her eligible for admission.
For e.g. Failing in theory papers 7, Applied for revaluation 2 – Can take provisional admission.
